John Titak was a wonderful person.  Great fortune brought him to my career.  Even the way we met was extraordinary.  Newly arrived to Chicago, I landed an interview with the owner at the top agency.  She liked my work, but needed more.  Jotting the number of Chicago Recording Company, she turned to me and said  “Work only with John Titak”.  

I made that call.  And it was the start of a friendship and collaboration that lasted over 20 years.

John was a terrific guy, and in the studio, a total genius.  The audio demo on this site is pure Titak.  I spent 90 minutes in the booth voicing it.   And what you hear is the result of his pure audio wizardry.  Imagine the advantage of starting out with a demo like that.

John would always set aside an entire day at CRC for my annual visit.  We’d experiment with mics and scripts and then he’d produce it all down.  He sure knew how to make a guy feel like a star.

John moved to The Discovery Channel in the late 90‘s and we continued to work together pretty much right up until the time when we lost him to cancer.
